Malaysians are certainly not unfamiliar with news reports of scam calls causing monetary losses on victims from time to time, but with the rise of generative AI, scammers has taken the next step and utilize deepfake technology to impersonate friends, families, or even public figures to manipulate victims.
HONOR Magic7 Pro: AI Deepfake Detection
Anticipating the launch of its latest flagship smartphone, HONOR announces that its new Magic7 Pro will be equipped with new AI Deepfake Detection feature to detect “fraud and digitally manipulated content.” It further claims that this on-device implementation is a first for the brand, as well as a world-first.
Here’s how it works: during a video call, the AI Deepfake Detection is tasked to scan frame-by-frame information, facial features like eye contact, lighting, image clarity, and video playback to “identify flaws that may be imperceptible to human eyes at first.” If visual anomalies are detected on the caller’s screen, the smartphone will flag a warning on-screen within three seconds to alert the user of possible scams.
HONOR also announces its new Magic7 Pro flagship will soon be launched in Malaysia – further details about the device, including its design and AI features, will be revealed on 9 December 2024.
