Game Source Entertainment (GSE) has confirmed that RATATAN will launch in 2025 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. The rhythm-based action roguelike game is developed by Tokyo Virtual Theory, in collaboration with Hiroyuki Kotani (the designer behind the acclaimed PATAPON series).
RATATAN Announced, Coming 2025
Below is the reveal trailer:
According to the developer, aside from the usual attack and defense sequences, the main character controllable by the player has the ability to freely move around the procedurally-generated map with certain actions, with unique abilities available to each character chosen. Nail the rhythmic sequences and you’ll enter ‘Fever Mode’, which kicks the background music up a notch.

Featuring illustrations and character designs by Nelnal (who also contributed artwork and illustration to the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game), RATATAN is said to feature richer graphics and even more characters, along with new content. Its online multiplayer mode is powered by Tokyo Virtual Theory’s proprietary “Theory Engine” to a “fast and stable environment” for online multiplayer.
