Batteries are the most volatile components in any laptop. Our processors may get insanely hot, but they won’t explode or catch fire. Batteries, on the other hand, will. Which is why Apple is recalling their 15″ Retina MacBook Pro 2015 to replace the batteries, free of charge.

The MacBook Pros in question were sold between September 2015 and February 2017, which is quite a long time. To check whether your specific unit is affected by these subpar batteries, you can check the serial number at Apple’s support page.

The last MacBook Pro to sport a proper array of I/O ports…

If your laptop is involved in the recall, all you need to do is bring your MacBook Pro to an Apple Repair Center for service. You might not have a MacBook for one to two weeks though, so be prepared. By buying another MacBook! /jk

Apple has not been exactly the nicest when it comes to replacing broken hardware, but a fire hazard definitely deserves more attention than faulty keyboards. At least they aren’t charging you to fix their problem.

For Malaysians, you can refer to iTWorld to get your battery replaced. You are advised to backup your data before sending them for service. You can send them to the Apple Premium Service Provider outlets in PJ and SNS Ipoh HQ.

Pokdepinion: Isn’t it a bit late to realize that the batteries are bad? It’s like 2 years late. If anyone had died from an exploding battery, they would have.
