ASUS Strix R9 Fury is ready — custom PCB and massive cooler

Sharing the same cooler with the ASUS Strix GTX 980Ti, ASUS will be using their own PCB design for the AMD Fury. AMD Fury is based on AMD’s latest Fiji core that sports HBM technology, although HBM is very much faster than traditional GDDR5 but HBM V1.0 is capped at 4GB of RAM. Looking at the picture below we can see that the PCB is taller than usual. This is because it’s needed to accommodate an all-new multi-phase voltage regulator module (VRM) featuring concrete-core inductors, solid-state black metallic capacitors and hardened MOSFETs.

The DCU III is using massive aluminium radiator, with heat wicked away from the core by two extra-thick 10mm heatpipes and two regular heatpipes. Three fans blow on the radiator and at low GPU loads those fans will stop spinning. This results in silent operation of the GPU at 0 db.

There’s no official details regarding the AMD R9 Fury (yet). Despite rumors floating around everywhere, AMD and Asustek just doesn’t give us any hint about this card. However AMD and partners have plans to release the Fury on the 14th of July, so this card might also appear sometime around then. If the ASUS Strix R9 Fury lands on Malaysian shores, we guarantee stocks will be limited. So any of you that interested to get one of this, try your best to find any computer shop that accepts pre-orders.

Pokdepinion : I really love the new design from ASUS, it’s neat and sleek. Just today AMD released the latest 15.7 WHQL driver. The driver suppose to enable many of the latest generation card features, such as Visual Screen Resolution (VSR). It’s also support Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 10. So far we didn’t find any review of the R9 Fury X with the latest driver yet. But we hope it will appear someday, somewhere.
