It would seem like EA’s newest IP currently in development, Anthem, will be seeing a delay past 2018. The game will see a release some time in 2019 due to conflicts with the new Battlefield game.

EA’s Anthem Game Delayed to 2019

What is considered as EA and BioWare’s most ambitious project to date, Anthem is an online role-playing adventure game that has been a hot topic among gamers today. If you’re one of those who are excited for the game, well, we have a bit of bad news for you.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Electronic Arts made the decision to delay Anthem because it didn’t want to compete with the unannounced Battlefield game arriving in October 2018. Developer DICE develops the latter series, as well as the Star Wars: Battlefront games, and it appears the two franchises will alternate releases each year from here on out.

Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen told the paper in a statement:

It’s not a delay. People are trying to create a story.

The game was initially scheduled for a Fall 2018 release, and it’s a delay no matter how you look at it. There was word floating around about a possible delay ever since Kotaku reported that nearly all of BioWare’s staff at their Austin and Edmonton studios are now working on Anthem despite a 4th Dragon Age game currently in the works.

While the development of the game is said to be going well, EA certainly does have a lot riding on this game given how much criticism they received for Mass Effect: Andromeda as well as the recent microtransaction-related controversy surrounding Star Wars: Battlefront II.

Anthem is expected to release some time between January 1st and March 31st 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Pokdepinion: Here’s to hoping that the game lives up to the hype, because we certainly don’t wanna spend our hard-earned cash or a buggy game or a game filled with microtransactions.
