OPPO R17 Pro launched in China for less than RM2600 — dual aperture, triple camera, dual battery, insanely fast charging!
If you were impressed by the OPPO Find X Automobili Lamborghini Edition and its 50W SuperVOOC charging, you would be even more impressed by this baby right here. Introduced in China, this is OPPO’s upper mid-range beast, and it actually has more new innovations than the OPPO Find X.
The OPPO R17 Pro is OPPO’s first triple camera smartphone, and also sails uncharted waters with its dual-battery configuration as well as insanely fast SuperVOOC charging. For the uninitiated, SuperVOOC used to be exclusive for the extra-premium OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition, with extreme 50W charging. Now, OPPO is going to be feeding the TWO batteries in the OPPO R17 Pro with that technology. The two batteries total up to a pretty impressive capacity of 3700 mAh, way bigger than the uber-premium OPPO Find X Automobili Lamborghini Edition’s battery.
Now onto the triple cameras. It consists of the primary 12MP f/1.5 / f/2.4 dual-aperture, with a Dual Pixel 1/2.55″ sensor behind a 7P lens equipped with OIS, a 20MP f/2.6 camera and a TOF 3D stereo camera. Now why would you need a TOF 3D camera? OPPO is apparently going to use it for 3D photos and enable new ways of capturing images, as well as using it to turn your TV into a gaming console. Remember the ASUS ZenFone AR? That one-of-a-kind device had one of these TOF cameras as well, so maybe there will be AR features in the OPPO R17 Pro too.
The list of unique features on the OPPO R17 Pro doesn’t end just yet, as it comes with a 6.4″ AMOLED display with a whopping 91.5% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to a water drop notch similar to the one on the recently launched OPPO F9. The fingerprint sensor is also under the display, making the OPPO R17 Pro a strong contender with recent flagships.
The rest of the hardware is pretty standard. A Snapdragon 710, 8GB RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage make up the parts under the OPPO R17 Pro’s unique satin-like matte finished glass back. Not only the finishing is unique, as the fog gradient color is also pretty special.
The OPPO R17 Pro is only available in one color option, and one configuration, priced at 4299 RMB (~RM2584). It is expected to be available in China starting mid-October. With the OPPO R15 Pro just recently introduced to Malaysia in late May, we doubt the OPPO R17 Pro will enter our markets. What do you think? Are you interested in the OPPO R17 Pro?
