[CES 2024] ASUS Unveils Its New NUC Lineup, Including ROG NUC

Since last year, ASUS has officially taken over Intel’s NUC line of products as the chipmaker redirects its resources elsewhere – and at CES 2024, these mini-PCs officially make a return under ASUS’s brand.

The company introduces a total of five models, notably including the ROG-branded NUC packing discrete GPUs within a 2.5L chassis. Starting with the NUC 14 Pro+, this 5 x 4-inch chassis packs an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor (65W); while the slightly smaller NUC 14 Pro can be optioned with Core Ultra 7 165H (40W) instead. Both feature Wi-Fi 6E, Thunderbolt 4, 2.5GbE LAN, and dual-channel SO-DIMM DDR5 memory (up to 2x48GB).

For business environments, there’s the ExpertCenter PN65 and Fanless Chromebox CF40 – the former features up to Intel Core Ultra CPUs, with dual-channel DDR5 RAM, dual PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, and a range of I/O including HDMI, DP 1.4, COM (serial), VGA, and 2.5GbE LAN. It supports outputting up to four displays with resolutions up to 8K60. Meanwhile, the Chromebox comes with Chrome Enterprise and zero-touch enrollment, making it suitable for digital signage and kiosk systems.

Finally, there’s the ROG NUC: this 2.5L chassis packs plenty of power, including up to Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, NVIDIA RTX 4070 2x 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM, and a total of three PCIe 4.0 SSD slots for expansive storage options. To give you an idea of how much power it’s capable of pulling – ASUS includes a massive 330W power adapter for one of these units, although it’s unclear how the dGPU – whether it’s a desktop or laptop chip – gets cooled with a chassis of this size (we can see lots of heatsink fins based on official images, at least).

The company hasn’t announced availability information thus far, but expect these units to arrive sometime later this year.

Pokdepinion: I’m interested to know the insides of the ROG NUC – should be very interesting to look at.
