AMD Likely To Introduce RX 7900 GRE-Based Navi 31 GPU Into Laptops
Chinese leaker 金猪升级包 (Golden Pig Upgrade Pack) has once again revealed more leaks on the AMD’s GPU plans. First uncovered by Moore’s Law Is Dead, the leak claims that AMD will utilize the “mini” version of Navi 31 – currently in use for Radeon RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) – which will eventually land itself into laptop models.

The main difference between GRE version and standard versions of RX 7900’s Navi 31 silicon mainly comes down to the package size: the former uses a smaller Navi 32 package to fit the Navi 31 silicon, with two of the six MCD (memory chiplet dies) cut down giving a maximum of 64MB of Infinity Cache.

In a Bilibili post, Golden Pig claims that AMD will fit the said chip into laptops, and much like the desktop counterpart, it will utilize the same 256-bit memory bus making it capable of supporting up to 16GB of VRAM. However, the leaker alleges that the specifications (such as CU count, which is 80 in 7900 GRE) could exceed the desktop model.

Per Videocardz, the laptop that is set to feature this GPU has experienced delays, although it’s unclear if the delay is caused by development issues on AMD’s part or simply down to supply chain issues in other parts of the machine.
