Recently, we reported that NVIDIA is expected to release the RTX 5060 series GPUs in March this year, with two models to be launched by then. According to content creator 磐哥说电脑 (Brother Pan Talks Computers) on Douyin – Tiktok’s Chinese counterpart – the new cards will stick to the tried-and-true PCIe 8-pin power connectors, not the new 12V-2×6 standard.

RTX 5060: 8-pin Lives On

The content creator wrote that RTX 5060 cards will only require 650W PSUs or above, and they all will be equipped with the traditional PCIe 8-pin connectors for power delivery. For comparison, RTX 4060 only required 550W PSUs, though it’s worth noting that the RTX 4060 consumes very little power compared to its predecessors. Hence, it’s likely that the new cards will see increased TDP, perhaps in between 150-200W based on the trend in this class.

This information will at least apply to ZOTAC cards, which the content creator has connections to. It’s unclear if NVIDIA will release Founders Edition cards in this segment (as they did for RTX 4060 Ti), but if they do, it’s more likely that it’ll stick to the 12V-2×6 connector, while AIBs will instead opt for PCIe 8-pin connector to save costs. In either case, the creator claims that both models will be launched in March.

In the meantime, AMD is also preparing its launch of the RX 9070 series, which has been recently confirmed to launch sometime in early March.
