Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro Marks The Return Of Plus-Size Gaming Keyboards
Keys galore!
Remember the old days when gaming keyboards was all about jamming as much keys as you possibly can? (those Steelseries Apex keyboards?), well it looks like Razer is heading back to that direction, somewhat – with the new Blackwidow V4 Pro that brought back dedicated macro keys.
This being the Pro model meant it gets all the best stuff Razer has to offer – the new Command Dial sits on the top left and is completely customizable; below it comes a column of macro keys that makes a return since its last appearance in Blackwidow V2 Chroma. Razer clearly thinks that per-key RGB is not enough, so they have given the keyboard a huge 38-zone RGB underglow, which extends into the detachable wrist rest as well.
On first sight you may think this keyboard comes with five macro keys, which is just about the standard as far as plus-size keyboards go. But Razer managed to put three extra macro keys on the side – sitting on the left edge and is fairly reminiscent of the side keys found on gaming mice. Speaking of the keys itself, Razer offers either Green (clicky) or Yellow (linear) switches, both rated for 100 million keystrokes.
Two things the Blackwidow V4 Pro doesn’t come with: first – the keycaps are doubleshot ABS, not PBT (sold separately); and second, no wireless capabilities – but in turn you get USB 2.0 passthrough, and the keyboard itself uses a detachable USB-C for connection. Chassis is full 5052 aluminum, and comes with dual-layer sound dampening form, plus pre-lubed stabilizers for improved typing acoustics. For latency-sensitive gamers, there’s the 8000Hz polling rate so don’t say the keyboard is holding you back.
The price for the Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro is set at RM1,149 and sales are now live on Razer.com, Razer stores and authorized resellers.
Pokdepinion: Keyboard manufacturers should really start looking at the sides where they can put a lot of buttons on, imagine a 65% with Macro keys on the side?
