Microsoft’s Sticky Notes App Is Soon To Be A Whole Lot More Useful
If you ever need to quickly note down something, the Sticky Notes app is handy for any Windows user – the app has been a mainstay since its introduction in Windows 7 (it also lived as a widget back in Windows Vista days). For many years, the feature set is pretty basic, with only a basic set of formatting options available.
That will soon change, as the redesign has been unveiled by Microsoft to select Microsoft 365 insiders, for now. It’s currently on limited rollout, but here’s what to expect: it’s got a new design in line with Windows 11 – Fluent Design, in case you didn’t know – and for the first time, it’ll feature the ability to include screenshots. The screenshot will also redirect you back to the app, webpage, or document it was taken from for easy access.
As mentioned, this is currently only available to Microsoft 365 insiders on the Current Channel (Preview), with Windows version 2402 (Build 17328.20000) or later. The redesigned app currently resides within the OneNote app, though the company says you can either pin the app on the Taskbar or simply hit Win + Alt + S shortcut for instant access once launched.
For everyone else, you may need to wait for a while as the company polishes the app to get it ready for formal release in the future.
Pokdepinion: Pretty neat feature. As a longtime Sticky Notes user, I haven’t found myself in a situation where I need to keep screenshots, but that may change.
