HUAWEI nova Y72 Revealed, Brings “X Button” For Quick Actions
HUAWEI today is introducing its latest Nova Y-series smartphone, the nova Y72. The new device receives an updated design that resembles the flagship P60’s camera bump, though one key feature is an idea taken from iPhone 15 – the “X Button”.
Like the iPhone’s Action Button, the X Button is a remappable key that allows the user to launch an app or initiate an action, such as turning on flashlight. It supports both double-press and long-press for actions, while single press is mapped to the quick launch menu. Note that this button is disabled when the screen is off or locked.
Elsewhere, the nova Y72 features a plus-size 6,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging, a 50MP camera paired with a macro sensor, and EMUI 12 operating system (based on HarmonyOS 2.0). Its display spans 6.75 inches, with a teardrop notch housing an 8MP front-facing camera.
For Malaysian markets, the HUAWEI nova Y72 will be priced at RM899 when it launches this Friday, 23 February 2024; two colors, Black and Green, will be offered with 8GB+128GB configurations. It will be available at all HUAWEI Experience Stores, HUAWEI official website, and the company’s official Shopee and Lazada stores.
Pokdepinion: Bring on the macro keys. Honestly, Samsung missed the opportunity to convert the Bixby button back then.
