AMD “Zen 6” Architecture To Feature RDNA5 iGPU & 2.5D Interconnect, Leaks Allege
We’re still some time away from AMD launching Zen 5-powered CPUs, but its successor, Zen 6, has been leaked. Zen 5 is expected to debut this year, and it’s unlikely to see Zen 6 until at least late 2025 if not 2026. However, leaker Everest (@Olrak29_) has provided some preliminary information on the architecture via X (Twitter).
The leaker has provided three pieces of information regarding Zen 6 so far: it will feature RDNA5-powered onboard graphics, skipping RDNA4 altogether; the codename is “Medusa”, and it will use an innovative 2.5D interconnect packaging technology with “much higher bandwidth.”
This would make it a significant technological jump from Zen 5, which will feature a “new grounds-up microarchitecture” on its own. As a side note, RDNA5 is almost never mentioned until this point except for that one huge Xbox document leak last year – so very little information is available on this new graphics architecture.
Given this is very early in the development cycle for Zen 6, expect things to change down the line, or the information may end up inaccurate. In any case, a healthy dose of salt wouldn’t hurt.
