Intel Hinting Windows 12's Launch, Set In 2024

If you need anything more than rumor mill and leaks to confirm the next Windows launch, this one from Intel’s latest analyst conference may be as close to official confirmation as it gets, for now. PC Gamer spotted in the transcripts (on Seeking Alpha), which briefly hinted on the presence of next Windows launch:

“We actually think ’24 is going to be a pretty good year for client, in particular, because of the Windows refresh. And we still think that the installed base is pretty old and does require a refresh and we think next year may be the start of that, given the Windows catalyst. So we’re optimistic about how things will play out beginning in ’24.”

For one, Microsoft has in fact mentioned that the company will revert back to its usual 3-year release cycle, after backtracking on the decision that Windows 10 will be the “final version” of Windows. Given that Windows 11 was launched in late 2021, it’s fairly reasonable to assume that the next update will come at late 2024 – although Microsoft have never quite stuck to such cadences if previous Windows releases are anything to go by. Hence, Intel’s statement here definitely confirms Microsoft’s current plans.

Given that Meteor Lake is Intel’s first consumer chip to integrate AI capabilities, there’s a good reason Team Blue is betting big on the next version of Windows to help boost its PC and laptop chip sales. Windows 11’s latest update is already putting lots of attention on AI, so expect even deeper AI integration for the next iteration of Microsoft’s operating system – something that all three chip vendors will be very eager to take advantage of.

Pokdepinion: So far I’m still not sure what to expect from Windows 12, as details are still very scarce at this point.
