UNIQLO Malaysia is set to launch a special UT collection inspired by Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island, arriving at all UNIQLO stores and the official online store on 10 August 2026.
Chiikawa the Movie UT Collection

The collection marks the first-ever film adaptation of the beloved Chiikawa manga, originally created by illustrator Nagano on X (formerly Twitter), and has been fully supervised by Nagano himself. The Chiikawa manga has built a massive following across all age groups since its debut on social media, following the heartwarming and sometimes surprisingly tough everyday adventures of Chiikawa and friends, including Hachiware and Usagi.
With the film hitting screens this summer, the Japanese apparel giant is marking the occasion with a dedicated range that brings the characters to life. In this case, the collection covers two categories: the T-shirt range offers four designs each for Women and Kids, while the sweatshirt range offers three designs each for Women and Kids.
For pricing, Women’s T-shirts are priced at RM59.90 each, while Kids’ T-shirts are priced at RM39.90 each; for sweatshirts, Women’s designs are priced at RM129.90 each, and Kids’ sweatshirts are priced at RM79.90 each.
Both categories launch simultaneously on 10 August 2026, though do note that availability differs slightly – T-shirts are available across all UNIQLO stores in Malaysia as well as the uniqlo.com online store, while the sweatshirt lineup is stocked only at selected outlets within the Klang Valley region, including Fahrenheit88, Mid Valley Megamall, The Exchange TRX, 1 Utama. (They can still be ordered via the UNIQLO online store regardless of where you are.)
Pokdepinion: The Chiikawa UNIQLO collection is genuinely cute, but paying sweatshirt money for a cartoon character from X (formerly Twitter) really does say a lot about where we are as a society.
