Google has introduced Gemini Spark which it touts as a “24/7 personal AI agent” to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in Malaysia this week. The tool is designed to operate continuously, managing recurring digital tasks under user direction, including functions such as sorting emails or tracking deadlines within Gmail.
Gemini Spark Is Alaways-On
According to Google, Gemini Spark runs in the background regardless of whether a user’s laptop is closed or phone is locked. The tool operates on Google’s cloud infrastructure and connects directly with Google Workspace applications, including Gmail, Docs and Sheets, without requiring additional setup.
Underneath this AI agent is Google’s Gemini 3.6 Flash model, which can operate in Bahasa Malaysia and English; Google said users retain control over whether Gemini Spark is activated and which apps it can access. The tool is designed to request user confirmation before carrying out actions considered “high-stakes,” such as spending money or sending emails on the user’s behalf.
Google even provided a few examples of use cases, such as compiling weekly local event listings in Kuala Lumpur with calendar integration, reviewing monthly bills and subscription receipts in Gmail to flag price increases or unused subscriptions, drafting responses to customer inquiries based on service and pricing information, and generating an email writing style guide based on a user’s previous correspondence.
