Midea & 99 Speed Mart Signs MoU To Extend Retail Presence

The MoU was signed by Mark Tam, Managing Director of Midea Malaysia, with Zeal Jiang, President of the Asia Pacific region for Midea Group, present as witness. Yong Eng Kwang, Chief Operating Officer of 99 Speed Mart, signed on behalf of the retailer, with Lee Thiam Wah, Executive Director and CEO, present as witness. The partnership follows Midea’s earlier expansion of 18 branded stores across Malaysia last year.

According to Mark Tam, the partnership provides consumers with “easier access” to Midea appliances, including blenders, electric kettles, rice cookers, fans, toasters, toaster ovens, vacuums and stoves through 99 Speed Mart’s retail network. Lee Thiam Wah said the collaboration allows 99 Speed Mart to expand its product offerings to include home appliances alongside its existing retail operations.

The partnership is linked to Midea’s regional growth strategy, referred to as the “Power of One” vision, which the company introduced at its Asia Pacific Dealer Conference in Bali. The strategy combines product development, retail expansion and customer experience initiatives under a single growth plan, with the Malaysian retail expansion described as part of efforts to meet related sales targets.

As mentioned, 99 Speed Mart outlets across Malaysia will carry a selection of Midea’s small home appliances starting August this year, which includes the following products:
