TNG Digital announced that it is supporting a financial inclusion initiative introduced by the Public Service Department (JPA) for eligible pensioners in Malaysia. The initiative addresses cases where pensioners face difficulty accessing their monthly pension through conventional banking channels, including situations where bank accounts have been frozen or restricted, such as after falling victim to financial scams.
TNG Digital Offers Alternative For Pensioners
Under the initiative, TNG Digital provides eligible pensioners with an alternative payment channel through TNG eWallet, intended to complement existing banking channels and maintain continued access to pension payments when bank accounts are unavailable. TNG eWallet currently has more than 3.4 million verified users aged 60 and above.
Eligible pensioners who opt to use TNG eWallet under this initiative can also apply for a fee-waived TNG eWallet Visa Card, which is linked directly to their eWallet balance. The card allows cash withdrawals at ATMs and payments at Visa-accepting merchants globally. On the security front, TNG eWallet do include features like identity verification (eKYC) for all users, biometric authentication, device binding, a Kill Switch function and a dedicated fraud support hotline.
Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital, said the company supports JPA’s initiative: “Financial inclusion is about ensuring no eligible pensioner is left without access to the pension payments they depend on. We are honored to support this initiative by providing eligible pensioners with a secure and accessible alternative payment option through TNG eWallet.”
Pokdepinion: This should be especially convenient for the elders if it means less visits to banks.
