For those seeking an electric SUV with a longer driving range, Sime Darby Motors has just launched the 2024 BYD Atto 3 Extended Range model in Malaysia. This “upgraded” version offers an extended range at the same price as the Standard Range model that was introduced earlier in May 2023, giving customers more value for their money.
2024 BYD Atto 3 Extended Range
The new 2024 BYD Atto 3 Extended Range is priced at RM149,800 in Malaysia. This is a significant reduction compared to the previous Extended Range model launched in December 2022, which was priced at RM167,800—making it RM18,000 cheaper.
The 2024 BYD Atto 3 Extended Range features several upgrades. It retains the same 150kW motor (equivalent to 201hp) that powers the front wheels and achieves 0-100km/h in just 7.3 seconds. However, the highlight of the upgrade is the larger 60.48kWh LFP battery, which offers a WLTP-rated range of 420km on a single charge (480km under NEDC standards).
In terms of charging, the Atto 3 Extended Range supports DC fast charging up to 88kW and AC charging at 7kW on a single phase.
Compared to the Standard Range model, the 2024 BYD Atto 3 Extended Range comes with several notable enhancements:
- Larger 18-inch wheels
- 8-speaker sound system for a richer audio experience
- PM 2.5 Air filter for improved cabin air quality
- Multi-colour ambient lighting on the door handles, including a music rhythm mode for added style
Another change with the 2024 Atto 3 is the introduction of a simplified BYD logo on the boot, eliminating the “Build Your Dreams” text. Additionally, the vehicle now rides on Continental EcoContact 6 Q tyres, replacing the Atlas Batman tyres from previous models.
Pokdepinion: With the launch of the BYD Atto 3 2024 Extended Range at the same price as the Standard Range model, BYD continues to offer competitive electric vehicles in Malaysia. Packed with upgrades, improved range, and new features, this model will help to further attract more customers and potentially bolster the company’s sales.
