Garmin Malaysia has launched two new additions to its cycling lineup: the Edge 1060 cycling computer and the Tacx Nēra indoor smart trainer. The former introduces hands-free voice control to the cycling computer category, while the latter brings multidirectional movement to indoor training sessions.
Garmin Edge 1060

The Garmin Edge 1060 is built around a hands-free experience – by saying “Okay, Garmin,” cyclists can activate voice commands to access performance stats, select routes, find points of interest such as coffee shops or restrooms, and send voice messages to other Garmin Messenger app users. Incoming messages and navigation prompts are played back through an integrated speaker, and a digital bike bell can also sound through the same speaker to alert nearby pedestrians.
New routing tools on the Edge 1060 include Route Options, which lets riders compare different paths based on ride time, elevation, and bike type, while Route Previews show distance, estimated time, traffic conditions, and reported road hazards before a ride begins. The Up Ahead feature surfaces nearby points of interest along a chosen route, whereas road closure alerts notify cyclists of closures and hazards such as potholes, obstructions, and aggressive animals reported by other Garmin users. Free Flow Routing finds paths with the fewest stops and intersections for uninterrupted training.

Performance tracking on the Edge 1060 includes real-time stamina monitoring, power guide, cycling ability scores, and course demand analysis, all developed through the Garmin Human Performance Lab. Cyclists can create a personalized Garmin Cycling Coach plan that adapts based on performance and recovery data. Its TrainingPeaks integration allows training plan workouts to sync automatically to the device.
The Edge 1060 also supports GroupRide detection, which automatically identifies nearby active GroupRide sessions and lets cyclists join in for shared messaging, live location tracking, and incident detection alerts. The workout screen is now interactive, allowing riders to view upcoming steps and zoom in or out on the full session plan. The home screen is customizable, and the device supports reverse USB-C charging to top up a Varia light or a connected phone when needed. The unit offers up to 20 hours of battery life in demanding use conditions, and up to 60 hours in battery saver mode.
Garmin Tacx Nēra

Meanwhile, the Garmin Tacx Nēra is a direct-drive indoor smart trainer with built-in motion pods that deliver forward, backward, and side-to-side movement for a more realistic ride feel. Power and cadence measurements are accurate to within 1%, and the trainer can simulate gradients of up to 20% while supporting sprint efforts of up to 2,200 watts.
The trainer ships with a preinstalled cassette for immediate use out of the box. A Zwift Ready variant is also available, which comes with a preinstalled Zwift Cog and Click for silent virtual shifting in Zwift or ROUVY. New Zwift subscribers who purchase the Zwift Ready option are eligible for a complimentary Zwift membership offer. The Tacx Nēra also features built-in Wi-Fi for fast connectivity during virtual racing sessions.

Users can setup through the Tacx Training app, which includes a library of free workouts. A premium plan, free for 45 days with purchase, unlocks real-world course videos, challenges, and badges, while Free Garmin Coach training plans created in Garmin Connect can be synced and completed within the Tacx Training app. The Tacx Nēra is also compatible with the separately sold Tacx Alpine gradient simulator, which extends gradient simulation to 25% incline and -10% decline for a more demanding indoor experience.
