Acer Updates Rebranded NITRO Gaming Laptops
Acer’s entry-level gaming laptops has been long held by a single model – Nitro 5. The rebrand will now extends to two models: Nitro 16 and Nitro 17.
Nitro 16 inherits the previous 15-inch Nitro 5, now with 16:10 displays (FHD+ or QHD+ 165Hz, 100% sRGB) and upgraded internals featuring dual-fan, quad-exhaust setup with liquid metal cooling. The new display extends its screen-to-body ratio to 84%.
Nitro 17 uses the traditional 16:9 design, comes in three display options: FHD 144Hz, FHD 165Hz or QHD 165Hz. This sub-3kg chassis is powered by Intel’s HX-series CPUs, NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics, up to 32GB DDR5-4800 SODIMM and 2TB of M.2 storage at disposal.
4-zone RGB comes standard, plus Killer DoubleShot Pro and Wi-Fi 6 1650i; HDMI 2.1, microSD card reader, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with one that allows “offline charging”, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports are included with Power Delivery support. Both models are expected to feature similar specs with AMD internals as well.
Acer has so far only released pricing for US, EU and Chinese markets. For reference, both Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 will start at $1,199 and be available on May this year.
