With the launch of Intel Core Ultra processors, Lenovo has also unveiled its offerings powered by Team Blue’s latest mobile processors. The new lineup consists of the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 12), ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 (Gen 9), and the IdeaPad Pro 5i (Gen 9).

For the ThinkPads, the specs are almost identical – so the choice comes down to which form factor you prefer. Both ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 come with Intel Core Ultra processors (SKU unspecified), up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM & 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, with displays choices up to a 14-inch, 2.8K touch OLED panel with 400 nits of brightness, plus DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification.

Other key features include an 8-megapixel camera, optional Wi-Fi 7 & 5G connectivity, and a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-bandwidth peripherals. The only difference between the two laptops comes down to size and weight: the clamshell form factor is slightly lighter (starting at 1.09kg), compared to the 2-in-1 model which weighs 1.32kg onwards.

For the updated IdeaPad Pro 5i lineup, Lenovo has announced two new variants: 14-inch and 16-inch. These laptops will come with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, with discrete GPU options available (RTX 4050). The system can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD.

For the 16-inch, display options include a 2K (2048 x 1280) OLED panel and QHD+ IPS panel; whereas the 14-inch has the option of 2.8K OLED or IPS panel to choose from. The remaining parts of the specs stay the same, with a sizable 84Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, IR FHD webcam with ToF (time-of-flight) sensor, and a pair of 2W speakers. The chassis weight starts at 1.46kg for the 14-inch model, while the 16-inch model tips the scales at 1.95kg.

No local availability has been announced so far, though Lenovo has noted that the ThinkPad models will be released on March 2024 with the price starting at $2,639. Meanwhile, IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 9 is now available in US, starting at $1,149.99.
