LG Electronics has announced that its latest LG gram laptop will feature Intel’s new Core Ultra Series 2 (unofficially, Core Ultra 200V) processors, which was showcased at the Intel Core Ultra Global Launch Event held from September 3 to 8.
Updated LG gram Laptops
The LG gram series is known for its extreme lightness, often coming at a sub-1kg weight despite its size, and has on several occasions named as the lightest laptop on the market. For this year, the new LG gram 16 Pro will be leading the way for the refreshed lineup.
Still, based on the official images, we can determine that the new LG gram 16 will feature a pair of USB-A ports and a pair of USB-C ports, the latter of which naturally comes with charging capabilities and Thunderbolt support. You also get a single HDMI port and a headphone jack to round it up. That’s all identical as the model currently available on select regions (Malaysia is not one of them), featuring the Intel Core Ultra 100 (Meteor Lake) chips with optional NVIDIA RTX GPUs.
Based on its press release, it’s easy to see the Korean electronics giant has gone all-in on marketing this laptop as an “AI PC” – not much else has been mentioned as far as specs go, though LG did promise that more laptops are on the way featuring these “AI processors”. That being said, LG has exclusively used Intel chips for its gram lineup thus far, and it’s unclear if it may make the switch to AMD, or even Qualcomm at some point in the future.
Pokdepinion: Laptops from other brands have managed to get very light these days – would be interesting to see where LG go next for its laptops.
