Apple Fined $1.2B For Price Controlling
Over in France, the Autorite de la Concurrence has fined Apple a massive $1.2 billion. The reason? Well the company has been stopping their distributors, Tech Data and Ingram Micro from lowering their product prices.
Apple fined for price controlling
The issue happened back in 2012, where a reseller filed a complaint. It is said that the complaint reveal that wholesalers were ‘teaming up’ with Apple and not competing with each other.
Aside from controlling the prices, it seems that Apple treated their partners ‘unfairly’ as well as limiting their supply of stocks. Thanks to all of this, it led to lack of competition in the market.
In response to the issue, Apple has said that the decision is “disheartening” and plans to appeal on the ruling.
Pokdepinion: I’m not going to say that I’m surprised with the news.. Guess that’s how Apple products have high value, even after years.
