Apple officially launched the iPhone 16e recently, but one notable omission has sparked debate—MagSafe charging is missing from the device. Some speculated that this decision was linked to Apple’s new in-house developed modem, the C1, which also made its debut with the affordable iPhone.

Apple Issues Statement on iPhone 16e MagSafe Omission

However, Apple has now put those rumors to rest. In an official statement, the company clarified that the C1 modem had nothing to do with the removal of MagSafe, confirming that the decision was purely a cost-cutting measure.

Apple’s move to exclude MagSafe from the iPhone 16e is in line with other compromises made to maintain its budget-friendly pricing. Given that the device already features scaled-down camera capabilities, it’s not surprising that Apple would also cut back on wireless charging features.
