Google’s Pixel 9 series is making waves with its latest addition, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which stands as the most refined entry in the lineup. This second-generation foldable smartphone is a significant leap forward from its predecessor, offering a more modern design, improved features, and cutting-edge technology that places it at the forefront of the foldable market.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold showcases a complete design overhaul, resulting in a taller and slimmer profile compared to the first-gen Pixel Fold. Google has opted for a square-shaped form factor, making the Pixel 9 Pro Fold stand 15.5mm taller than its predecessor, even outdoing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 in terms of height. When folded, the device measures a sleek 10.5mm, and when unfolded, it’s an impressively slim 5.1mm. This reduction in size and weight, down to just 257 grams, makes the Pixel 9 Pro Fold easier to handle and more comfortable to use.
One of the most notable improvements is the updated hinge, which now unfolds completely flat—a feature that the first-gen Pixel Fold lacked. Additionally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is equipped with IPX8 water resistance, adding a layer of durability to its refined design.

The new proportions of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold allow for larger displays, enhancing the user experience. The device features a 6.3-inch cover screen and a square-like 8-inch folding screen. Both displays are OLED panels with FHD+ resolution, offering adaptive 120Hz refresh rates and a peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits. The two screens also share identical 10MP selfie cameras, ensuring consistent quality across all your photos and videos.

Around the back, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold maintains a capable camera setup, similar to its predecessor but with slight enhancements. The device is equipped with a 48MP main shooter, a 10.5MP telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom, and an updated 12MP ultrawide module. This setup ensures that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold continues to deliver high-quality photography in various conditions.
Under the hood, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chipset, fabricated on Samsung’s 4nm process. The processor features a combination of 1x Cortex-X4 prime core at 3.1GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6GHz, and 4x Cortex-A520 cores at 1.95GHz, providing powerful performance for all your multitasking needs. The device can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.

Like the other models in the Pixel 9 series, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with Android 14 and the latest Google AI features, including on-device Gemini Nano, Pixel Screenshots, improved Magic Editor, and the new Add Me functionality, which allows users to insert people into photos after they’ve been taken.
The device is equipped with a 4,650 mAh battery, which Google claims will last for 24 hours of normal use. Wired charging is capped at 21W, providing a balanced approach to battery life and charging speed.

Pokdepinion: I can’t believe we’re finally getting them in Malaysia after so long. I’m quite excited for it since we’re really close to getting our hands on them, and this could very well be the most exciting foldable of 2024.
