Ahead of Google’s highly anticipated hardware launch event on August 13, numerous leaks have surfaced about the upcoming devices. Today, new renders of the vanilla Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the true successor in size to the Pixel 8 Pro, have been revealed.
Google Pixel 9 Series Leaks
Google’s upcoming lineup will introduce four new smartphones: the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold. The naming scheme might seem confusing initially but makes sense upon closer examination. The Pro isn’t the direct successor to the Pixel 8 Pro in terms of size; instead, it shares the same size as the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 but features the internals of the Pro XL. The Pro XL is the true successor in size to the Pixel 8 Pro. Meanwhile, the Pro Fold succeeds last year’s Pixel Fold.

The recently leaked pricing adds to the initial confusion, with some versions maintaining the same prices as their predecessors while others see price hikes.
The new renders don’t reveal much new information. The Pixel 9 will feature one less camera than the 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, as expected. All new devices will sport a revamped camera island design on the rear. According to last week’s rumor, all devices will be powered by Google’s next-gen Tensor G4 chipset.
