HONOR has announced that the HONOR X9d smartphone will launch in Malaysia on 24 September 2025, with full specifications and pricing to be revealed on the same date. The device succeeds the company’s previous mid-range lineup and introduces durability and reliability improvements.
HONOR X9d Preview – Durability Demonstrations

The HONOR X9d incorporates three industry-firsts and has received SGS Triple-Resistant Premium Performance certification for its verified resistance to drops, scratches, water, and high temperatures. It is also the first smartphone to receive an IP69K rating – the highest level of water and heat resistance certification that enables protection against dust, high-pressure water, and steam. HONOR also revealed its extra-large 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery, said to be the largest capacity available in a smartphone today.
As usual with the X series models, HONOR has figuratively and literally threw the device into a series of durability demonstrations in a media-only preview – some the things X9d managed to withstood sounds quite wild on paper, which includes direct blasts from a custom-built plasma cannon (I had to look it up to know what exactly a plasma cannon is), as well as withstanding impacts from the likes of industrial-grade nail gun and a heavy-duty stapler gun. As with controlled demonstrations, the phones expectedly escape the machine brutality unscathed.
There’s also tests similar to what we see from previous models, with the likes of water submersion, hot steam exposure, and immersion in soil and water mixtures. HONOR also boasted the phone’s endurance by showing a comparison of battery tests, which the X9d managed to outlast 20 other smartphones from different brands, with additional demonstrations highlighting its reverse charging capability, such as powering a neon LED board.
All that demonstration aside, we expect the numbers and details of the HONOR X9d to be officially introduced in Malaysia on 24 September, and there will be a launch event happening on that day – so stay tuned until then.
Pokdepinion: Huge battery – that’s confidently a two-day phone.
