Apple Pencil support for the iPhone Duo is included in the iOS 27.2 release candidate, according to a tipster on X. The release candidate rolled out on Monday, and the feature reportedly works. Apple stated when it unveiled the foldable in September that Pencil support would arrive later this year.

iPhone Duo Apple Pencil Support in iOS 27.2

The iPhone Duo has officially gone on sale, and Apple typically releases its larger software updates in December. This suggested a wait for Pencil support after launch. iOS 27.2 is now expected to be released on or around Monday, October 26th, so buyers who pre-ordered for launch day would wait only a few days.

Apple’s newest and first foldable works only with the Apple Pencil (USB-C). Other models are not compatible, including the Apple Pencil Pro and older Pencil versions. Apple says users can take notes, sketch or mark up documents on either of the Duo’s displays.

Reachability Plans for the iPhone Duo

Apple also reportedly plans to bring Reachability to the iPhone Duo later this year, according to Wired. On other iPhones, the feature lowers the top half of the interface for one-handed use. On the Duo, a tap will instead bring the left or right edge of the screen within reach. Apple has not stated which iOS version will add it.
