After massive confusion on the water and dust resistance rating for the newly launched OnePlus 11, we finally have its official IP rating for all markets that the smartphone is available in.

OnePlus 11 is Officially IP64

OnePlus 11 Review -

Finally, there has been official confirmation from OnePlus that the OnePlus 11 has an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance in all markets where it is available. This means that the phone is dust-tight and offers complete protection against dust particles. It is also resistant to water splashes from any direction, though this level of water resistance is not as high as that offered by some of its competitors, including some Samsung Galaxy A series handsets at lower price points than the OnePlus 11.

This information caused confusion among media outlets, with some based in the US receiving it in advance of the global launch of the OnePlus 11 while others, including us, did not. That’s why we’re dedicating a whole post to clarifying the IP rating subject.

OnePlus 11 Review -

It’s not uncommon for Chinese smartphones to lack an IP rating, so at first we didn’t think much about it. However, as reviews for the OnePlus 11 were released after the launch event, it became clear that some media outlets had been informed about the IP64 rating, while others had not.

It’s possible that the IP rating only applied to models in certain markets, such as the US or North America, as this has happened before. In some cases, it may not be financially feasible to conduct IP testing for all units sold globally, even if they could theoretically withstand the same level of dust and water exposure. However, it’s confirmed now that if you purchase a OnePlus 11, it will have an IP64 rating no matter where you buy it from, giving you added peace of mind.

Pokdepinion; While I did expect better, it’s better to have IP64 than to have none at all. Don’t bring it to the shower with you.
