The Samsung Galaxy A18 has officially launched in Malaysia, though it has some rather mixed changes when compared to the Galaxy A17, which comes in both 5G and 4G versions. The Galaxy A18 gets a slightly upgraded ingress protection rating, though the front display glass is hugely downgraded for unexplained reasons.

The Galaxy A18 inherits the same 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display paired with a slightly refreshed MediaTek Helio G99+ processor, which only supports 4G; 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM is available, with RAM Plus feature that utilizes memory swap from its 128GB storage. On the camera side, it carries a triple-camera setup comprising a 50MP wide camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera.
The smartphone carries an upgraded IP64 rating for dust and water splash resistance, though oddly, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front panel instead of Gorilla Glass Victus used in its predecessor, making this aspect a rather major downgrade. The rear uses a glass-fiber-reinforced polymer back cover, which Samsung describes as thinner and stronger than conventional alternatives.

Samsung is committing six years of operating system and security updates for the Galaxy A18, meaning the smartphone will remain eligible for updates all the way until 31 October 2032. The Samsung Galaxy A18 is available at a recommended retail price of RM1,199, offered in Light Blue, Black, and Silver colors.
