Sony Announces New ‘Perfect For PlayStation 5’ Feature For BRAVIA XR TVs

Sony is launching a ‘Perfect for PlayStation 5’ campaign for BRAVIA XR TVs, which are expressly engineered to operate seamlessly with the PlayStation 5 and provide an immersive gaming experience.

‘Perfect for PlayStation 5’ TVs will come with two brand-new PS5 exclusive features – Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode. In suitable games, they also enable frame rates up to 120fps in a super-crisp 4K resolution, as specified in HDMI 2.1. Furthermore, with input lag as low as 6.0ms on the Z9J models, you’ll experience exceptional smoothness and responsiveness in first-person shooters, sports, and high-performance games with immediate on-screen action.

Sony’s BRAVIA XR TVs produce amazingly realistic images with brilliant colours and eye-catching contrast, supplemented by unique sound from screen technology that immerses you in the action whether you’re playing a game or watching a movie. Sony will also bring in ‘Perfect for PlayStation 5’ BRAVIA XR-exclusive features which include:

Auto HDR Tone Mapping

The HDR settings will be optimised automatically during your PS5’s first setup with Auto HDR Tone Mapping. The PS5 will recognise particular BRAVIA TV models and choose the appropriate HDR setting for the TV based on that recognition. You’ll see important details and colours even in high-contrast scenarios thanks to the optimised HDR tone mapping level for your BRAVIA display. Both the PS5 and the BRAVIA TV require software updates. By the end of January 2022, it will be available.

Auto Genre Picture Mode

With Auto Genre Picture Mode, your TV automatically switches into Game Mode when gaming, which reduces input lag to make the action more responsive, or Standard Mode when watching movies on the PS5 via a streaming service or an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc, which shifts focus to picture processing for a more expressive image. By the end of January 2022, Auto Genre Picture Mode will be available via future software upgrades for PS5 and BRAVIA TVs.

You can even connect selected Sony sound products straight to your PS5 to experience the BRAVIA XR-exclusive Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode capabilities on a BRAVIA XR TV. This will require a software update to work and will be available in Spring 2022.
