Acer has announced that Malaysia will host the Asia Pacific Predator League (APAC Predator League) in 2025 – the announcement was made at the fifth running of the event in Manila, where Acer Malaysia Managing Director Kon Tek Yoong received the Predator League pennant from Sue Ong-Lim, General Manager of Acer Philippines.

The tournament is a key initiative to support Malaysia’s goal of becoming an eSports hub in Southeast Asia, attracting players and teams from across the Pan Asia Pacific region.

“We feel incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to host the next edition of the APAC Predator League. This tournament is one of the ways we can support Malaysia’s ambition of becoming a hub for eSports in Southeast Asia as it will feature players and teams from across Pan Asia Pacific. We will do our utmost best to show the region what Malaysian hospitality has to offer the gaming community and hope to inspire more local talents who aspire to join the industry,” said Kon.

The grand finals of the APAC Predator League 2024 in Manila drew over 15,000 spectators who witnessed Blacklist International and Team Secret clinching victory in Dota 2 and Valorant, respectively. The tournament showcased intense competition, with both teams winning US$65,000 each along with the prestigious Predator Shield.

Additionally, Intel MVP Awards were presented to outstanding players Polo “Raven” Fausto (Dota 2) and Jeremy “Jremy” Cabrera (Valorant), each receiving an extra US$10,000 and the Intel MVP Award Trophy. Both runners-up teams, Exacration (Dota 2) and FAV gaming (Valorant) received US$20,000 for their commendable performance.

Regional qualifiers for the APAC Predator League 2025 are set to commence later this year, leading up to the main event in the first quarter of 2025.

Pokdepinion: With the recent push to promote esports from the government, the decision to host the event here could be pretty convenient.
