PlayStation 5 Supply Expected to Increase Dramatically
New reports on shipments by Sony Interactive Entertainment shows a potential of the PlayStation 5 supply increasing dramatically.
The Much Needed PlayStation 5 Supply Fix
Lots of reports of improved PS5 supply in the past few months, but no data until now. Import data into the US confirms that Sony Interactive (PlayStation) shipments in Sept were +400% YoY. Yes you read that right. Some of that will go into inventory for GoW launch for sure. #PS5 pic.twitter.com/SvC6xTPQxs

According to financial analyst David Gibson, PlayStation shipment imported to the US has increased by 400% year-over-year in September 2022. Last year of the same month, they shipped 1.5 million kg whereas this year, they shipped 7.5 million kg over.
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a huge increase in PlayStation 5 supply as it would include accessories such as the DualSense controller and other products. However, it would at least show that there’s a significant increase in supply for the next gen console, and they’re ramping it up in time for the holiday season. Interestingly, the PlayStation 5 supply has been steadily increasing since May 2022.
While it’s worth noting that this data involves the US specifically, it would at least serve as an indication that the supply should improve in other countries as well. After all, it wouldn’t make sense from a business perspective to solely focus on just one country for a product that is popular globally.
For those of you who are planning to get a PlayStation 5 console for yourself, this will likely be the new batch with a newer, more efficient chip. There should be no discernible difference in performance, but it is more efficient with less heat output. For now, we will report more on this as soon as information becomes available.
Pokdepinion: I can already foresee a number of new pre-orders coming up, or a massive one, before the year ends.
