Thought that Final Fantasy XV would come to Nintendo Switch since it’s a multiplatform console game? Square Enix doesn’t feel the same way.

Final Fantasy XV has hit store shelves since November 2016, and most gamers have finished the entire story by now. Some are happy, and some are not. We gamers are a diverse bunch so nothing wrong with having different opinions on the game.

The game is available for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the moment. For some of you Nintendo loyalists who are expecting to see the game being ported out to the Nintendo Switch, I’m afraid I have some bad news for you.

Final Fantasy XV Director Says No Plans for Nintendo Switch

At this moment in time, Final Fantasy XV is supported on the PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro, and Xbox One. 2 new consoles are coming up in the gaming world, which is the Xbox’s Project Scorpion and the Nintendo Switch. In an interview with DualShockers, Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata shared a bit on Square Enix’s perspective on both upcoming consoles.

On the Nintendo Switch side of things is where the disappointing news come in. Tabata mentioned that there are no plans for the Nintendo Switch from Square Enix at the moment. He is unsure if the Nintendo Switch is even capable of running Final Fantasy XV or not since Square Enix has not managed to run the necessary hardware tests yet.

Don’t be too disappointed about it however. Tabata did mention that there are many people within Square Enix who are a big fan of the Nintendo Switch, even within the Final Fantasy XV development team itself. It’s not to say that it will never happen, it’s just that at the moment, they just can’t do it yet.

On the Xbox-side of things, Tabata mentioned how Square Enix is currently thinking on how to implement the game on Project Scorpio. He doesn’t know how much of a difference the Project Scorpio version will be compared to the PS4 Pro version but he said that the team will try to make it as good as possible. It seems like there’s a possibility that the Project Scorpio version might be better than the PS4 Pro version if the hardware allows it to be.

The Nintendo Switch will release on March 3rd, and while it doesn’t appear that it’ll get a version of Final Fantasy XV any time soon, Square Enix will be bringing Dragon Quest XI for the new Nintendo console. The Xbox One’s Project Scorpio on the other hand is expected to release during this year’s Holiday season. Expect to see it in E3 2017 in June.

Pokdepinion: I personally believe that Final Fantasy XV will eventually make its way to the Nintendo Switch UNLESS the hardware of the Switch is too weak. Tabata is just saying that there are no plans on it at the moment after all. Not saying that it will never come to Nintendo’s upcoming console.

If you’re wondering why they can release Dragon Quest XI for the Nintendo Switch but not Final Fantasy XV, that’s simple. Final Fantasy XV was developed with a different hardware in mind, and porting games can be very complicated. After all, no one wants a glitchy game, and Square Enix doesn’t want to risk that happening.

I can go with the fact that the Switch might not be able to run final fantasy XV and sure that is ok but i am almost certain that it would run World of Final Fantasy, hell it just looks like a game that belongs on the Switch, i would totally buy this.
