With many looking forward to the ASUS gaming phone but uncertain about the price, this might be good news. There may be multiple variants of the ROG Phone.

There May Be More Affordable Variants of the ASUS ROG Phone

Previously, we reported about the ASUS ROG Phone possibly being priced around RM3000. Then we also reported about another one being priced slightly above RM5000 (after conversion). Well, things continue to get more interesting as the highly anticipated gaming smartphone may see multiple variants.

First things first, let me be clear, we’re not talking about models with different storage options. It’s more than that. According to a report on GSMArena, the ASUS ROG Phone (Z01QD) will have 3 different RAM options. Those RAM options are 8GBs, 6GBs, and 4GBs. Storage will still remain with a 512GB and 128GB options.

While the 2.95GHz CPU clockspeed can easily be attributed to the use of the Snapdragon 845 chipset, the camera is said to be different. Instead of a dual 12MP and 8MP camera, it only lists a single 12MP camera instead. However, it’s worth noting that the pictures they saw still had dual camera on it so there is still a chance that the camera will be the same for all variants.

Lastly, there is said to be a difference in the battery capacity. While we knew for a while that the ASUS ROG Phone is expected to have 4,000mAh battery capacity, the one they reported was listed with 3,850mAh capacity instead. One possible explanation is that the bigger battery capacity is set as the standard whereas the 3,850mAh battery capacity is the minimum that the smartphone will have.

If we assume that the battery and the camera remains the same across all variants (in which we’re also assuming there will indeed be multiple variants), cutting down on RAM will surely lead to it being more affordable. Then again, there is also another possibility which is that they’re creating different variants for different countries as well.

For now, we should take this information with a grain of salt. We’ll just have to wait for it to be officially launched to know for sure.
