Android 8.0 Oreo rolling out to the Nokia 8; finally “polished enough” for launch!
We have been following Nokia’s progress with Android 8.0 Oreo quite closely. Firstly because we really loved the Nokia 8, and also because we wanted to see if they can keep their promise of fast updates. Just a month after they released the Oreo update for the Nokia 8 on the new Nokia Mobile Beta Labs, it is now official.
The latest update will bring most of Android 8.0 Oreo’s hallmark features such as the better performance and better security. Autofill, Picture-in-Picture multitasking and the revamped user interface with notification dots are also going to arrive on the Nokia 8, considering it runs vanilla Android.

This should make the Nokia 8 one of the earliest devices to receive its Android 8.0 Oreo update. The vanilla Android approach may have made Nokia’s job easier while also making the Nokia 8 incredibly zippy. We are liking what we are seeing with Nokia. Meanwhile, for those of you with Nokia 8’s look out for the OTA that will hit your devices soon enough!
Pokdepinion: Loved the hardware, and now with fast updates, we may have an alternative for Nexus and Pixel devices. Did I mention that the Nokia 8 is one of the most affordable smartphones with the Snapdragon 835?
