CD Projekt Red Settles Case With The Witcher Author
Back in 2018, a legal case was filed against CD Project Red, in which the author for The Witcher, Andrzej Sapkowski was looking for extra compensation for the The Witcher 3. Now it has finally reached a conclusion.
CD Projekt Red has released a statement, though not revealing the full extent of the agreement where it says “The agreement satisfies and fully clarifies the requirements and expectations of both parties in light of previously concluded agreements, and establishes a framework for future cooperation between the parties”.
Sapkowski has previously filed a claim for $16million, where his lawyers think that he deserves more than that. CD Projekt Red said that they “will go to great lengths to ensure amicable resolution” but suggest that the money that he was asking for was a bit too much.
CEO of CD Projekt Red, Adam Kiciński has admired Sapkowski’s work where he notes that he is a great inspiration to the folks at CD Projekt Red. He adds “I believe today marks a new stage in our continued relationship”.
The Witcher series has grown substantially down the years, with recently there’s even a live-action version on Netflix itself.
With the case being settled, it could see them (CD Projekt Red) develop a new Witcher sequel in the near future.
Pokdepinion: If you haven’t watched the one on Netflix, well you won’t be dissapointed. Geralt really sounds like Geralt!
