Google Pay is coming to Malaysia

Google Pay is on its way to Malaysia, but it won’t be the cashless payment method you expect it to be. While it is fully capable of replacing physical contactless debit and credit cards, Malaysian banks have yet to adopt it. Now, at least, you can use it to pay for your online purchases as Google Pay will now be available via iPay88.

iPay88 works with various e-commerce platforms including Zalora, Shopee and FoodPanda. With the integration of Google Pay into iPay88’s payment gateway, you can make payments seamlessly, as long as you are logged in to your Google account when you are making the payment.

iPay88 has not revealed when they will actually be introducing Google Pay in Malaysia, but it is a good step forward. Hopefully we will see the contactless payment method being brought in as well so that we will finally see some competition for Samsung Pay which is currently only offered on the Korean smartphone maker’s flagship devices.
