HTC unveils 18:9 Desire 12 and Desire 12+ — for those who desire a more affordable yet pretty-looking option
HTC’s latest Desire duo brings 18:9 displays to the budget price bracket. The two new devices feature HTC’s signature Liquid Surface design for a touch of premium. Even more interestingly, HTC’s first dabble at a dual-camera depth detection system for the HTC Desire 12+.
Under the acrylic glass back, the HTC Desire 12+ features a Snapdragon 450, a good entry-level chipset mated to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The HTC Desire 12 gets the same amount of RAM and storage, but only packs a quad-core MediaTek MT6739. Acrylic glass may not crack as easily, but glossy plastics will collect scratches like nobody’s business.
Handling the imaging department is a 13MP camera featuring PDAF on both the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+. The larger model packs a secondary 2MP camera for depth detection, enabling the desirable bokeh everyone and their mothers want in their shots. The BSI sensor gets its light through a f/2.2 aperture, which is quite small for a 2018 device. Selfie-fanatics will get more joy from the Desire 12+ and its 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera, while the Desire 12 makes do with a 5MP f/2.4 front camera.
Both devices feature HTC Sense, complete with HTC Sense Companion for smart suggestions for optimal performance. Smart Alarms is also a cool feature, turning off alarms on holiday mornings to allow you to sleep in. Now, that’s really intelligent! Aside from cool software features to enhance your user experience, the 18:9 1440 x 720 displays are easier to hold, with the HTC Desire 12 having a 5.5″ one, and the HTC Desire 12+ packing a 6″ display.
Both devices will be available in Warm Silver and Cool Black by April 2018.

Pokdepinion: I hope HTC prices these well, as they are very unimpressive when it comes to its specifications.
