HUAWEI is innovating pretty rapidly in recent times. After launching the AI powerhouse Kirin 980 chipset along with the HUAWEI Mate 20 series, HUAWEI announced the Punch All-View display with the HUAWEI nova 4, marking a breakthrough in screen-to-body ratio without having to adopt fancy and impractical technologies like multiple displays and what not. HUAWEI is going to transcend yet another barrier with a foldable device that they will purportedly be showcasing at MWC 2019.

Samsung has been teasing a foldable phone too, but we have yet to see anything concrete from the Korean giant. It’s probably in the late prototyping stage, but if these rumors are true, HUAWEI will actually start selling their foldable phones very soon. The HUAWEI foldable smartphone reportedly is able to fold to the left and also to the right, which would be quite interesting to see especially if HUAWEI manages to take advantage of the flexibility via software features.

HUAWEI is reportedly going to cram a pretty standard 12MP + 20MP rear camera, and a 20MP selfie camera into this foldable smartphone. It is going to feature up to 8GB RAM and 512GB storage, mated to HUAWEI’s latest chipset, the Kirin 980. It will also tout 5G connectivity if HUAWEI’s CEO’s teaser is to be taken at face value. It would probably be a good idea too since HUAWEI would want to cram as much of their latest technology as they can into this single device, just for bragging rights.

Of course, it won’t be cheap. The rumors point to a starting price of RMB 8999 (~RM5416). Being an early adopter is never going to be cheap, but at least you will have all the latest and greatest tech right in your pocket.

Pokdepinion: I am not entirely sold on the idea of a foldable phone, but then again, I am open to trying it out.
