[MWC2018] LG V30S ThinQ debuts with AI — Same hardware with new AI features and more memory!
The next device to capitalize on the artificial intelligence (AI) fad is from LG. Building upon the LG V30, the LG V30S ThinQ integrates AI technologies to enhance users’ experience. The LG V30S ThinQ is designed to deliver a more intuitive AI experience for users to experience AI without feeling intimidated by the technology.
Coming from a LG V30, you won’t see any difference on the outside. The changes on the LG V30S ThinQ are mostly on the AI-centric features such as Vision AI and Voice AI. Vision AI consists of AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode. AI CAM recommends the optimal shooting mode for your subject, not unlike HUAWEI’s implementation of AI in their Mate 10. QLens uses AI to scan QR codes, while Bright Mode doubles the brightness in low light conditions without increasing the noise. Voice AI is integrated into Google Assistant, with LG-exclusive commands to simplify menu navigation and offer direct access to certain functions.
While LG didn’t change the hardware formula much, that doesn’t mean LG just renamed a LG V30, added on AI features and called it a day. The LG V30S ThinQ comes with 6GB of RAM, up from 4GB, and 128GB of storage. If you need more, the LG V30S+ ThinQ which comes with 256GB of storage. If that’s still insufficient, there is also a microSD slot that accepts up to 2TB cards.

A green tint added to the Moroccan Blue while the New Platinum Gray lends a an air of sophistication to the device. The MIL-810G certified toughness and IP68 water and dust resistance are carried over from the standard LG V30 too.
Pokdepinion: This devices feels largely unnecessary. I must say I am a fan of the LG V30, but come on, some extra memory, new AI features that will also be on the original LG V30 via updates, and LG decides to release a new device?
