Nubia Red Magic Mars is yet another gaming smartphone — comes with ROG Phone-esque shoulder buttons too!
Well it seems like Nubia has decided to barrel forward with two gaming phones in just a span of 3 months. The first Nubia Red Magic was understandably a disappointment, packing a Snapdragon 835 chipset when even the Snapdragon 845 is nearing the end of its product cycle. Well that changes with the Nubia Red Magic Mars.
The new smartphone packs most of the features that any self-respecting gaming smartphone must have, which includes a dual heatpipe air-cooling system to tame the Snapdragon 845.
Much less common are the two touch-sensitive areas on the sides of the phones which acts like shoulder buttons. Nubia’s naming for it? Mars Trigger. There’s also a dedicated button to engage gaming mode. Guess squeezy sides were a bit too expensive for you eh, Nubia?
Taking yet another page out of the competition, the Nubia Red Magic Mars also features 4D Shock haptic feedback, for a more immersive gaming experience. There is stereo front-facing speakers, replete with virtual 7.1 surround sound. The 6.0″ IPS LCD display doesn’t seem to feature a faster refresh rate or MEMC, so I guess it’s just a normal one there. No notches here though, so that’s a plus.
The Nubia Red Magic Mars also supports a cool assortment of accessories, including a DAC dongle which supports charging. How cool is that? I wish Apple has thought of that in the beginning! Speaking of charging, there is a 3800 mAh battery inside, under that fancy RGB LED strip. It also comes in three color options, Meteorite Black, Flame Red and Camo. Camo is reserved for the top-spec 10GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.
Pricing starts from 2699 yuan (~RM1628) for the basic 6GB+64GB model, ranging up to 3999 yuan (~RM2412) for the ultimate Camo variant. What do you think? Do you find the prices agreeable?
Pokdepinion: Seems like a very cool gaming smartphone to have, if we get pricing that’s similar to the Chinese pricing.
