POCOPHONE F1 users may now enjoy Netflix HD after latest update
One of the major grouses that POCOPHONE F1 users raised with the budget flagship was the inability to stream Netflix HD due to its lack of Widevine L1 certification. Xiaomi has promised to update the device to add support some time back, and they have finally pulled through. The latest MIUI 10 9.2.25 Beta update for the POCOPHONE F1 addresses the complaint, by adding Widevine L1.
This change has been spotted by users who updated to the latest beta ROM for the POCOPHONE F1. With the introduction of Widevine L1, it not only solved a major issue with the POCOPHONE F1, but actually gives it a feature which is even lacking in Xiaomi’s flagships devices. Yes, even the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 which we recently reviewed lacked Widevine L1 support.
With that said, this is the first time Widevine L1 certification has been delivered OTA to a device after launch. OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T owners had to send their devices back to OnePlus to install the required certification. XDA-Developer goes into further detail about how they did it.
So now with the Widevine L1 certification on the POCOPHONE F1 via the MIUI 10 9.2.25 update, it would probably be safe to assume that Xiaomi will also be updating the rest of their flagships to support Netflix HD. When that will happen remains to be seen, as this is just in a MIUI 10 Global Beta and it isn’t a part of the MIUI 10 Global Stable channel yet.
It’s worth noting that Netflix HD might not be possible on the POCOPHONE F1 yet, as Netflix has to whitelist it despite the fact that it supports Widevine L1 now. Since it isn’t on the Global Stable channel yet, I would probably not have my hopes up so high.

Widevine L1 support has been added to the Global Stable update for the POCOPHONE F1. The update is numbered MIUI 10.3.4.0, and it comes with a number of features including Game Turbo and 4K60 video recording!
Pokdepinion: Well I don’t watch Netflix on my phone anyway… But yeah, nice to have.
