It seems that the Qualcomm and Apple has settled their dispute, where in a San Diego courthouse, both of them released a joint press release revealing the details of their agreements to each other.

According to the press release, it involves a payment from Apple to be made to Qualcomm for an undisclosed fee, and a six-year agreement, which is effective as of April 2019 (with the option of a two-year extension).

Today, our innovations are the foundation for life-changing products, experiences, and industries. As we lead the world to 5G, we envision this next big change in cellular technology spurring a new era of intelligent, connected devices and enabling new opportunities in connected cars, remote delivery of health care services, and the IoT – including smart cities, smart homes, and wearables.

The whole situation rose back when when Apple filed a report against Qualcomm, claiming that they were charging excessive royalties. Following that, the chipmaker company then sued Apple for infringing on other patents due to a power management feature embedded in iOS, which led to the banning of iPhones in several countries.

The news that they have settled their differences could mean that Apple may be on their way to feature 5G modems in their future iPhones.

Pokdepinion: I guess it’s great news..? I wonder how long will the peace last between them…
