Touch ‘n Go and Proton have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate Touch ‘n Go RFID technology into the all-new Proton X50. Under the agreement, each new Proton X50 will be fitted with an RFID tag during production, enabling instant access to the nation’s RFID-enabled highway network without any user installation required.
Touch ‘n Go & Proton Signs MoU

The MoU signing took place at Proton’s Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam, with senior representatives from both companies in attendance. Both companies aim to provide “more seamless experiences” for the customers, according to Praba Sangarajoo, CEO of Touch ‘n Go; he added that the collaboration, which starts with factory RFID implementation, is designed to make daily mobility feel “easier, faster, and more intuitive.”
While the Proton X50 was originally launched in 2020, the B-segment SUV recently got a facelift which was launched on 24 July this year (and has recorded 2,000 deliveries since then). The facelifted model is the first in Proton to have the Touch ‘n Go RFID tag factory-installed across all variants, among other upgrades like redesigned exterior and interior, updated connectivity systems, and uprated powertrain.
Proton indicated that there is “scope to extend the partnership between the two companies to other models” to offer similar convenience across its range.
