Finding a graphics card for gaming that suits your budget can be quite a hassle. It becomes complicated when you ask a random person on the internet.. Common case when the responder gives their expert opinion about the card recommendation. Some said get higher memory size “the bigger it is the bigger monitor you can play on “even some said get the fastest memory bandwidth “256bit FTW” and the one made I lose my side when he/she asking the best card around 500, they respond with “keep your money and get titan”.
Last week i had a chance to play with MSI GTX 750Ti Gaming TF OC, how does this card perform? Are memory size or bandwidth important factors when choosing a graphics card or is it the GPU architecture? Lets move on.
Specification
Only 250x128mm small, the MSI GTX750Ti TF has a striking red and black theme which matches the B85-G43 Gaming board really well.GTX 750Ti is based on the new Nvidia 28nm GPU architecture the Maxwell (GM107) which promise the best performance on very low wattage usage.
Design
Comes in a cool looking box that makes it look all premium and high end. Sadly my beloved cat decided to sharpen it’s canines on the box before I took a photo of it.
Moving on to the card, the Dooragon (Dragon) logo right in the middle is supposed to boost performance of the card to over 9000. Note: Supposed. The two fans on this card have gained my approval for being very quite under load.
At the back of the card
Thumbs up here, three mainstream connectors available on this card. Firstly, the soon-to-be legacy D-SUB connector, and we also have dual link DVI-D and HDMI port which supports a 4K display at 24Hz. Please do not buy this card if you plan to game on 4K but for a HTPC it will be perfect.
Test Rig
Benchmark Result
All game run at Ultra setting and I found out that BF4 and WD not smooth as we want but after change the setting to High and turn off the Anti Aliasing I got decent frame per second over 40 fps for average.
Temperature and Noise
Testing the acoustic and temperature level on this little beastis really exciting and quite amazing since the fan running very quiet even after 45 minutes burn test on furmark, it managed to keep the temperature at 64 celcius.
Conclusion
Amazingly this card consume only 75 watt on load thank to the new nvidia gpu architecture maxwell (GM 107) and it capable to run most modern and graphic demand game on high setting such as Battlefield 4 and Watchdog. I would like to highlight again is the really quiet fans that still managed to keep the temperature at 64 celcius. Besides that Shadowplay is also supported, so you can enjoy watching recording your gameplay with less lag and better quality video. Bearing a price tag of RM589 (SRP), the MSI GTX 750Ti Gaming TF OC is the go to card for building a 1080p entry level gaming rig.
