Sony Releases New Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS Earbuds With ANC And Better Battery Life
After numerous leaks, from the design to a full product video, the new Sony WF-1000XM4 has finally been announced. Featuring better noise cancellation features, a better microphone and improved battery life, the Sony WF-1000XM4 looks to be a pair of TWS earbuds that audiophiles wouldn’t want to miss. On paper at least.
Sony WF-1000XM4 up for pre-order now
The new Sony WF-1000XM4 comes equipped with Sony’s newly designed Integrated Processor V1 which features improved noise-cancelling capabilities over the previous QN1e chip. The new Integrated Processor V1 also allows for better Bluetooth performance compared to before. Also, Sony’s new earbuds feature dual noise sensor microphones; one feed-forward, and one feed-back, in highly accurate noise cancellation.
Further improving the noise capabilities is the WF-1000XM4’s use of 6mm driver units with a 20% increase in magnet volume. The magnet volume increase and high compliance diaphragm improves performance in low frequencies and enhances noise cancelling by generating a high-precision cancellation signal to the low-frequency range. The earbuds also feature new Noise Isolation Earbud Tips and Automatic Wind Noise Reduction that further helps with the earbud’s noise reduction performance.
Thanks to LDAC, Sony’s industry-accepted audio coding technology, Sony WF-1000XM4 now supports High-Resolution Audio Wireless. LDAC transfers about three times more data than standard Bluetooth audio (at a maximum transfer rate of 990 kbps), allowing you to experience High-Resolution Audio content of excellent quality. DSEE Extreme 4 (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) upscales compressed digital audio files in real-time with the help of Edge-AI.
Sony WF-1000XM4 also features Speak-to-Chat that lets you have short conversations without taking out the earbuds. Speak-to-Chat recognises and reacts to your voice. It is based on Precise Voice Pickup Technology, which combines four microphones and sensors with advanced audio signal processing. The WF-1000XM4 also feature Adaptive Sound Control which senses where you are and what you’re doing then adjusts ambient sound settings for the ideal listening experience.
The earbuds also feature improved call quality through the use of its microphones and the Precise Voice Pickup Technology as well as beamforming microphones. The beamforming microphones are calibrated to only pick up sounds from your mouth. Additionally, the new bone-conduction sensor and Noise Cancelling helps in providing a clearer call experience.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 also features up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge and a further 16 hours from the case. A 5-minute quick charge gives you up to 60 minutes of play time, and the Sony | Headphones Connect app will notify you when your charging case drops below 30%. Moreover, the WF-1000XM4 also supports Qi wireless charging.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 also comes with an IPX4 water resistance rating as well as featuring support for Google and Amazon voice assistants. In addition, the earbuds also support Google’s Fast Pair technology for easy pairing with your Android device. Fast Pair also helps locate your headphones and also let you know when you’ve left the battery on and how much charge is left. The WF-1000XM4 also supports Microsoft Swift Pair for easy connection with Windows 10 devices.
Last but not least, the Sony WF-1000XM4 features 360 Reality Audio, immerses you in the music as if you are right in front of your favourite artist. Listeners can enjoy a custom immersive musical field that is perfectly optimised for each individual user when using the WF-1000XM4 headphones and the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
