Qualcomm is long known for its Snapdragon brand in the smartphone market, though the chipmaker has been rapidly expanding to other segments like laptops in recent years. Now, the company is introducing an all-new branding to serve customers in the industrial and network infrastructure segment: Dragonwing.
Meet Qualcomm Dragonwing

“The Dragonwing brand represents our industrial and embedded IoT, networking and cellular infrastructure solutions,” said Don McGuire, SVP & Chief Marketing Officer at Qualcomm. “With Dragonwing products, companies can unlock smarter decision-making, increased operational efficiency and faster time-to-market.” As a matter of fact, Qualcomm has already retroactively branded its industrial offerings under the new brand.

This meant that there will be two major lineups from Qualcomm’s portfolio moving forward: Snapdragon will remain and serve the customer segment as everyone is familiar with, while Dragonwing will likely be competing against Intel and AMD’s equivalent offerings in the industrial segment. The logo’s purple shade is the result of combining Qualcomm’s blue color and Snapdragon’s red into one, as McGuire stated in the news release.
Qualcomm will debut the new brand officially at MWC Barcelona in the coming week, as well as Embedded World event in the week after that, so expect some partnership announcements and further details to be revealed by then.
Pokdepinion: The company definitely has pretty big ambitions ahead.
