Apple unveiled Mac Studio and Studio Display today, a completely new Mac desktop and display powered by the company’s M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips. Users of Mac Studio can perform tasks that are not possible on other desktop computers, such as rendering massive 3D environments and playing back 18 streams of ProRes video. Studio Display has a 27-inch 5K Retina display, a 12-megapixel Ultra-Wide camera with Centre Stage, and a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system with spatial audio.

Mac Studio

The Mac Studio was created to optimise the performance of the M1 Max and M1 Ultra, resulting in an unprecedented amount of power and capability in a form factor that can be used on a desk. With a square footprint of only 19.7 centimetres and a height of only 9.5 centimetres, it is made from a single aluminium extrusion.

A system of double-sided blowers precisely placed airflow channels, and over 4,000 perforations on the back and bottom of the enclosure guide air through the internal components and help cool the high-performance chips round out the Mac Studio’s unique thermal design. And, thanks to the efficiency of Apple silicon, Mac Studio is incredibly quiet even under the most intense workloads.
